#MondayMotivation 2.24.20

This is one of my favorite stories... It reminds me that perspective is everything and life is not so black & white... When we hold on to one perspective so tightly it becomes hard to see any other view. Are there areas in your life that are more "may be" than the way they are currently being perceived?

This Presidents' Day let's think about First Lady Michelle Obama's reminder to practice self-care, self-compassion and remember that we need to be one or our own priorities!

#MondayMotivation 2.10.20

As we approach Valentine's Day, let's take a few moments to remember that our most precious and important relationship is the one we have with ourselves. This quote from Robert Holden is a really important reminder to practice self-compassion and prioritize a healthy and caring relationship with ourselves.

#MondayMotivation 2.3.20

With the tragic death of basketball superstar, his daughter and seven others last week, I have decided to use Kobe Bryant's motivating words in this week's Monday message. He is being remembered as a legend on the basketball court, an amazing father and an inspirational role model. Some people also remember his past public challenges. This has been a topic brought up in quite a few therapy sessions this week with all kids of complicated feelings about his life and his death. Some people are mourning him, his daughter and the other people on that helicopter, others are feeling triggered about trauma and vulnerability. Often during tragedy we think very black and white, as saint or sinner, good or bad. It is easy to put people into categories. It is so much more complicated than that. I wish for healing and love to all of the families who lost someone in that helicopter. Every life is precious and important and we are allowed to hold both the positive and the not-so-positive feelings together at one time.
What I take away from the tributes about Kobe's life reminds me that we all have potential to rise above our mistakes, rise above our obstacles, rise above challenges. He was not perfect. None of us are. As imperfect humans, we can all rise. Every day is a choice. We can dwell on challenges and mistakes or we can decide to be different, do different, and live our life in a positive way.
