#MondayMotivation 8.3.20

How much are we weighted down by things that are now ours to carry? I know I am finding myself too caught up in social media around politics I need to step back and ask myself why I am carrying this burden. What do I need to do to pull back from carrying stuff I do not own? Self care is crucial and setting better boundaries helps me put life into perspective. What works for you?

There is so much uncertainty in the next few months. Our world has significantly changed by covid19. No matter the challenges we may face, the path through trouble is always made one step at a time, a breath at a time, a day at a time.

Increasing our mindfulness is a beautiful act of self care. Many people think meditation is the only way to practice mindfulness, but that is not true. Yes, meditation is a great way to be more mindful but it is not the only way. Jon Kabat-Zinn is the founder of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programs and this quote is a reminder of a benefit of being more present, in the moment.
Click HERE to watch facebook post of the news program where I talk about the mindful benefits of adult coloring books. Other activities like music, art, gardening, sitting at the beach and walking in nature are also opportunities to cultivate mindfulness by focusing on purpose, in the moment, non-judgmentally.

#MondayMotivation 7.6.20

There has been a lot of talk lately about what it means to be free. As we celebrate July 4th, let's keep in mind what the meaning of freedom really is. Peter Marshall articulated well how I have been feeling lately when he said that freedom is not the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right.
Think about the freedoms you think are being taken away and look closer at what is in the best interest of the greater community. As we move into re-opening businesses and the "new normal" please keep other people in mind.
